How we compute your Korea salary rank

We use Statistics Korea (KOSIS) Wage Earner Income Data, released every February. The December 2024 release (published 2026-02-23) is turned into a wage distribution by age, and we pinpoint where your salary lands. Same input always returns the same answer.

Your exact rank the table can't show

The table above shows the median by age band — an average across many occupations. Your rank depends not only on age but also on occupation. Enter your salary, birth year, and occupation in the calculator at the top of this page to get, in about 30 seconds, your precise age-based percentile plus your occupation-based rank and regional comparison — figures a lookup table alone cannot give you.

Sources and reliability

All data is sourced from official Korean government agencies: Statistics Korea / KOSIS (income distribution), National Tax Service (2026 simplified withholding table for income tax), Ministry of Health and Welfare (4 social insurance rates), and the National Law Information Center (premium rate tables). No proprietary adjustments or estimations — only the most recent official statistics.

Frequently asked questions

How is the Korea salary percentile calculated?
Using the official wage distribution by age group from Statistics Korea (KOSIS) Wage Earner Income Data, we compute where your salary falls.
Why use 2024 data for 2026 rankings?
Statistics Korea officially released the December 2024 wage earner income data on 2026-02-23, which is the most recent official statistic available. The 2025 data is scheduled for release around February 2027.
Are the take-home pay calculations accurate?
They are estimates based on 2026 official social insurance rates and the National Tax Service simplified withholding tax table. Assumes a single-person household with no dependents and a 200,000 KRW/month tax-free meal allowance. Actual pay may differ based on company-specific wage policies and year-end tax settlement.
How are the deduction items computed?
National Pension 4.5% (capped at 6,370,000 KRW), Health Insurance 3.545%, Long-term Care 13.16% × health premium, Employment Insurance 0.9%, Income Tax via simplified table (single-household, 1-dependent column), Local Income Tax = Income Tax × 10%.
Where would my Korean salary rank in Japan or the U.S.?
Every result page shows your salary's percentile in Japan and the U.S. via nominal FX conversion at the top. The same salary can rank quite differently across countries — see your exact figures on the result or compare page. Selecting a U.S. state on the input page narrows the U.S. comparison to that state's distribution. Nominal FX fluctuates over time, so PPP-based (purchasing power) comparisons may differ.
