How Korea salary percentile is computed

We use the official Wage Earner Income Data published annually in February by Statistics Korea (KOSIS). The December 2024 dataset (released 2026-02-23) is converted into 5-year age cohort cumulative distributions, and your salary's position is computed via linear interpolation. Adjacent 10-year groups are weighted-averaged at anchors (17/25/35/45/55/65/75) to smooth boundary discontinuities, with 1-year resolution adjustment — the same input always produces the same output (0.01% precision, deterministic).

Sources and reliability

All data is sourced from official Korean government agencies: Statistics Korea / KOSIS (income distribution), National Tax Service (2026 simplified withholding table for income tax), Ministry of Health and Welfare (4 social insurance rates), and the National Law Information Center (premium rate tables). No proprietary adjustments or estimations — only the most recent official statistics.
