How we compute your Canada salary rank
We use the Statistics Canada Canadian Income Survey 2024 distribution of employment income and median by age (tables 11-10-0240 / 11-10-0239) to pinpoint where your income lands. Your entered gross employment income is ranked within your StatCan 10-year age band (interpolated to single years), with an all-ages rank shown too. The median employment income is CAD 46,300 and the mean is CAD 59,900; about 23.7M Canadians had employment income. The by-age median peaks at CAD 67,500 for ages 45-54. Take-home pay applies federal + Ontario 2026 income tax (including surtax and the health premium) and CPP/CPP2 + EI, and varies by province (Ontario shown; Quebec has its own regime).
Sources and reliability
All data is sourced from official Canadian bodies: Statistics Canada Canadian Income Survey 2024 (employment income distribution, table 11-10-0240, plus median by age, 11-10-0239) and CRA 2026 federal + Ontario income tax with CPP/CPP2/EI (T4127). No proprietary adjustments — only official statistics. Percentiles are on gross employment income, with cohorts approximated using StatCan 10-year age bands (interpolated to single years). Take-home uses Ontario (the most populous province) as a representative baseline and varies by province (Quebec runs its own QPP/QPIP regime, not modelled). The survey caps its top tail at $100k+.
