How we compute your Spain salary rank

We use INE's Encuesta Anual de Estructura Salarial (EAES 2024) distribution of gross annual pay to pinpoint where your salary lands. Your entered gross (bruto) salary is ranked within the INE distribution, with an all-ages rank shown too. The mean gross pay is €29,540/year and the median is €24,497/year; the top 10% earn more than €52,515 and the bottom 10% less than €12,018. Earnings peak at ages 50-54 (about €32,358), there are roughly 19.16M employees, and women earn about 84% of what men earn. Take-home pay deducts 2025 IRPF (income tax) and employee Social Security contributions of about 6.48%.

Sources and reliability

All data is sourced from official Spanish bodies: INE Encuesta Anual de Estructura Salarial (EAES 2024, gross annual pay distribution, percentiles, by sex and age), Agencia Tributaria 2025 IRPF rates, and Seguridad Social 2025 employee contribution rate (about 6.48%). No proprietary adjustments — only official statistics. Percentiles are on gross annual pay, with cohorts approximated using INE age bands. The survey covers wage employees (about 19.16M) and excludes the self-employed. Income tax can vary by autonomous community (comunidad autónoma), so the national general baseline is applied.

Frequently asked questions

How is the Spain salary percentile calculated?
We use the 2024 INE Encuesta Anual de Estructura Salarial (EAES) — the official distribution of gross annual pay by age band. Your entered gross annual salary (in euros) is placed within that distribution. The mean is €29,540/year and the median is €24,497/year, across about 19.16M employees.
How is take-home pay (net) calculated?
Using the 2025 IRPF national reference scale plus employee Social Security contributions (~6.48%, with a contribution base ceiling of about €58,914). IRPF rates vary by autonomous community, so net pay can differ slightly. The input is gross annual pay in euros.
What does Spain's salary distribution look like?
Per INE EAES 2024, the top 10% earn more than €52,515 and the bottom 10% less than €12,018 (a P90/P10 ratio of about 4.4). Earnings peak at ages 50-54 (~€32,358), and women earn about 84% of what men earn. Source: INE Encuesta Anual de Estructura Salarial (EAES) 2024.
