salary.gg is a free salary-percentile calculator. This policy explains exactly what data we handle and how. We designed the site to collect as little personal data as possible.

What we do not collect

  • No account, sign-up, or login. We never ask for your name, email, or contact details.
  • The salary and birth year you enter are processed entirely in your browser. They are not sent to or stored on any server. When you open or share a result link, those values are encoded into the URL itself (base64) — they live in the link, not in a database.

Cookies we use

We use a small number of first-party, functional cookies for your convenience; they do not identify you personally:

  • preferred-lang — remembers the interface language you chose (stored up to 1 year).
  • display-currency — remembers your selected display currency.
  • geo-country — stores your country (derived from your connection's region) to pre-select the most relevant country by default.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate, anonymous usage (page views, general location, device type). This helps us improve the site. Google Analytics may set its own cookies. We do not send your salary or birth-year inputs to Google Analytics.

Advertising

When advertising is enabled, salary.gg uses Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com). Third-party data sources

All wage distributions and tax rates come from official government statistics agencies (see the About page for the full list). We do not purchase or use personal data from third parties.

Your choices

  • You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time; the calculator will still work, but your language and currency preferences won't persist.
  • Because we store no personal data on a server, there is no account to delete.

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above reflects the latest revision.
